Today, with the ICE-phase out decided in several regions globally within the next decade, the automotive industry is constantly evolving towards a more affordable electro-mobility. However, customers do not want to trade range or performance. Hence, sophisticated engineering solutions are required to avoid such a trade-off and therefore serve the crucial change from fossil-driven to electric-driven automotives.
A promising technology to reach that goal are X-in-1 powertrain solutions combining either the electric machine with power electronics forming an integrated axle drive or simply allocating multiple power electronics within a highly integrated battery compartment. Such X-in-1 modular systems provide several benefits including high power density, smaller product volume and less weight. In addition, it offers new ways to improve thermal management efficiency. Therefore, X-in-1 is one piece of the puzzle to enable highly efficient, high-performant and affordable electric mobility.
With the awarded and highly integrated axle drive EMR3 and its successor EMR4 as well as with the High-Voltage Box, Vitesco Technologies is already providing the necessary X-in-1 solutions for the next generation of electric vehicles.
