    Future Mobility – Everything-as-a-Service

The future of mobility is being reshaped by a series of trends that are set to disrupt the way we perceive transportation. These trends include zero-emission last-mile distribution, autonomous people movers, everything as a service, and shared mobility among others.

The concept of zero-emission last-mile distribution is revolutionizing the logistics industry. This approach aims to reduce the environmental impact of goods delivery by optimizing the final leg of the distribution process. It involves the use of electric vehicles, drones, and even robots to deliver goods in the most efficient and eco-friendly manner possible. This trend is not only reducing carbon emissions but also improving the efficiency of urban logistics, which faces a growing lack of labor.

The autonomous people mover (APM) is another trend shaping the future of mobility. These are self-driving vehicles designed to transport people over short distances within controlled environments like airports, campuses, or urban centers. They offer a safe, efficient, and convenient mode of transportation, reducing the need for personal vehicles and contributing to less congested city streets.

APMs are part of shared mobility, which is another key trend in the future of transportation. It refers to the shared use of a vehicle, bicycle, or other modes of transportation by different users. Shared mobility services provide people with more flexibility and options, reduce the need for private vehicle ownership, and contribute to a more sustainable and efficient transportation system.

The aforementioned trends are services that are part of the growing Everything-as-a-Service trend. Instead of owning a vehicle, users can now access a wide range of mobility services on-demand, paying only for what they use. This model extends to all aspects of transportation, from ride-hailing and car-sharing to public transit and even autonomous vehicles but also includes new delivery services.

Vitesco Technologies is proactively monitoring those trends to know what is lying ahead and to be able to adapt. But already today, Vitesco Technologies has a broad product portfolio, that enables autonomous driving, which includes powertrain, powernet and E/E architecture solutions for enhanced redundancy. Besides, advanced sensor cleaning systems or phone-as-a-key authentication, which is crucial for shared mobility like APM, is part of the portfolio as well.
