Currently, the focus of electrification is on passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. However, powered two- and three-wheelers are an essential part of everyday life for many people on the one hand. The decarbonization of our transportation industry and autonomous commercial transportation will lead to the electrification of medium and heavy-duty commercial transport on the other hand.
Both vehicle types offer an enormous potential to reduce global emissions. Whether for daily commuting or just for fun driving, electrified two- and three-wheelers offer it all: A pleasant driving experience and efficient mobility. As cities and conurbations keep growing, this compact vehicle class with its small floor space requirement offers many benefits to private owners and commercial fleet owners (e.g., for ride-sharing or vehicle sharing and last-mile delivery). On top of that they are highly affordable and offer a sufficient range. Considering this background, it is to be expected that a growing number of two- and three-wheelers with locally emission-free electric drive will be a regular feature of urban and inner-city areas.
